Energy consumption of HVAC systems for clean operation rooms contributes a considerable part of the total energy consumed by a hospital. Performs an experimental case study in a class I operation room to investigate the possibility of reducing the servicing airflow rate of the HVAC system. The results show that although the airborne microorganism concentration rises as the air velocity at the operation height reduced to 0.22 m/s, the surgery site infection risk is still controllable and acceptable.
